Ballroom Dance at Brigham Young University
|
In 1953 Brigham Young University offered its first social dance class. Since then the Ballroom Dance Program at BYU has rapidly progressed and is now considered the most comprehensive study of ballroom dancing, in a university setting in the world. With seven studios and more than 100 classes taught yearly, students receive instruction and training from beginning to advanced and competitive levels in International Style Latin, Standard Ballroom and Social Dance (American Style). Over 5000 students each year participate in the ballroom dance program, taking part in group classes, dance labs and practice sessions. Students and non students look forward to the dancesport competitions that are held twice a year.

Claudia Hill
|

Claudia Hill teaches in the Social Dance Program at the University. Claudia holds a masters degree in dance and is a Dual Licentiate with the ISTD.

Curt and Sharon Holman
|
|
Curt and his wife Sharon are former competitors in the Professional Theater Arts Category where they were finalists in the U.S., British and World competitions. Both have a Masters Degree in Dance and are dual licentiates with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. Both are registered with the NDCA as World Class Adjudicators. Curt is currently the division director of Ballroom Dance at Brigham Young University.

Elaine Grenko

A member of the BYU Ballroom Dance Faulty, Elaine is a licentiate of the Imperial Society in the International Standard and an associate in the international style standard.

Lee and Linda Wakefield
|
|
Lee Wakefield and his wife Linda are former U.S. Theater Arts Champions. Over the past twenty years they have been instrumental in the growth of Ballroom Dancing at Brigham Young University, they are the directors of the World Famous BYU Ballroom Dance Company. Both Lee and Linda are World Class Adjudicators. Lee is currently the chair of the Department of Dance at BYU and is the Ballroom Director for the National Dance Council of America

Marci Edgington
|

Marci Edgington directs the Social Dance Program at the University. She holds a Masters degree in dance and is a dual licentiate with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.
